HEER'S POV:
I was sitting on the bed of guest room which is obviously not mine and I have realised this every moment in last six months
My back rested against the head rest, my eyes somewhere lost in the world I could call mine. The people around me kept speaking but I stayed silent
Silent tears kept falling from my eyes but no word was formed in my throat from last half an hour
Reva sat in front of me crying helplessly asking me questions I couldn't answer, she had saw me moping the floor earlier and then created a scene in front of Chachi ji and Bua ji
She asked them the reason for treating me this way behind my husband's back, she even said the things I could never ever dare to say
Aashrit bhaiya had taken a stand for me and Reva, he stood against them but I didn't utter a single word because I knew something they still don't know
When we were leaving the living room Bua ji had smirked at me silently gesturing me to tell them how Singh Saab had left me on the first morning of our marriage
Even bhai was called here, and now all of them stood hovering over my head for the answers I can't speak out
Bhai did not tell them till now about Singh Saab's absence maybe because he thought they already know
Reva was crying in front of me, my best friend, the one I love a lot was crying like that in front of me and I could just only watch sitting there like a statue
Aashrit bhaiya was looking at Reva and glancing at me in between while Bhai was not even looking at me, not a single glance and it hurts the most
Then suddenly that question echoed in the room, the air suddenly shifted and turned more heavier than it already was
"Wait, bhabhi where is Vedh?"
Aashrit bhaiya's words drummed in my ears, the same words I didn't want to hear ever because it hurts
Even when I never expected him to come back to me but still it hurts to hear those words, to answer that question again and again
I closed my eyes tightly and the hot tears rushed down my cheeks before opening my eyes again and this time my head was lowered
Reva glanced at Aashrit bhaiya then me before holding up my chin, making me look at them and she asked
"Where is he, Heer?"
Her words were shaking filled with expectations, expecting me to say that he will be here in sometime that he has not left my side completely but no words came out of my trembling lips
Just then Bhai turned around looking straight at me, his gaze not angry but disappointed fixed on my face as he said
"Tell them betu, tell them where is your husband?"
I looked at Bhai, his voice was low, cold and sad because he loved me a lot to see me this way and I knew this
Reva and Aashrit bhaiya both glanced at Bhai before Reva again looked at me and asked, her tone eager and pleading
"What do you mea- what does he mean Heer, huh? where is he, where is Vedh Singh Oberoi, just tell me WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR NAME SAKE HUSBAND?"
Reva's tears kept spilling out as she tried to get an answer out of me but I couldn't, I couldn't dare to form those words
Reva shouted at me asking for the location of my husband but only if I knew, I didn't know, I didn't know where my husband is
The only thing I know is that he left me alone in this cage to suffer, I was bearing the punishment of marrying him without his will that too from the very next morning of our marriage
A sob left my lips as I trembled from the intensity of Reva's voice, she started crying loudly and was about to fall but Aashrit bhaiya held her
Reva kept her face on his chest when finally Aashrit bhaiya asked, his voice low and calm but giving the hint of his bubbling up rage
I looked down at my lap while Bhai just stared blankly, his arms crossed and eyes narrowed at the way I whispered
"I don't know"
And everything stilled, Reva's sobs, Aashrit bhaiya's question, the tension of the room everything just froze
Bhai's sigh could be heard in that silence, Reva straightened, her tears still clinging to her face as she walked to me and asked
"What do you mean Heer?"
"Let me tell you"
Bhai said, his deep voice was enough to make me freeze as it was cold and blank. I couldn't speak as bhai explained where 'my husband' was
Aashrit bhaiya was visibly angry while after hearing all of it Reva's knees gave up and she sat down on the edge of the bed
I sighed wiping my tears before Reva turned to me slowly and said
"I am sorry Heer, I am really sorry"
I cupped her cheek as she apologized and shook my head before hugging her to my chest, she clung to me like something broke in her
Aashrit bhaiya closed his eyes with a sigh and took out his phone before dialing a number quickly he held to his ear
"Where is Vedh?"
His voice was straight and cold, I don't know what the other person spoke but then Aashrit bhaiya immediately said with a hint of anger in his tone and eyes
"Send me his Italy number. Now."
The order in his tone was unmistakable and the authority in it filled the room at once but the sentence took away my breath
He was about to call Singh Saab, maybe to call him back, maybe to scold him or maybe to fight with him?
Everyone in the room looked at Aashrit bhaiya as he opened his phone and dialed another number keeping the call on speaker
"Ring...Ring...Ring.."
The rings went continuously but the call wasn't picked up and then suddenly someone spoke, the voice I never expected to hear again now filled the room
"Hello"
POV ends.
~ Vedh Singh Oberoi~
Vedh sat holding all those photos and memories close as if clinging to them could lift off the heaviness from his heart
The eyes which always remained empty now filled with a wave of emotion remembering the girl he had buried somewhere in the deepest corner of his memory
Then Vedh took out his phone and dialed a number, almost in a hurry like a single moment of delay would kill him
"Make arrangements, I am leaving. Today."
His voice was calm but the storm inside was hard to predict. The person on the other side said something and Vedh hang up the call
He looked at the picture of the small girl again, a sigh slipped past his trembling lips and he hugged to his chest like holding it would lower his guilt
Vedh was growing restless with every passing second, even when he knew he would be returning back today but still it felt like something was wrong
And just then his phone rang, the shrill ringtone rang around the room vibrating on the table taking Vedh's attention
He picked up the phone from table and stared at the screen which showed an unknown number, with a deep calming breath Vedh answered the call
"Hello"
He said but it seemed that everything on the line was stilled, no voice came and then a sigh an irritated one
"What the hell have you done Vedh?"
Aashrit's voice boomed in Vedh's eardrums like a shock and Vedh for a moment closed his eyes, he did not reply, he couldn't because the least expected person to call him was Aashrit
"Do you even know what your wife had to endure behind your back?"
Aashrit's tone carried a hint of growing anger but Vedh wasn't focusing on it, his entire focus was on his words
'Heer had to endure behind his back?'
Vedh's breaths grew heavy as he measured the weight of those words, his wife, the one he married and left on the responsibility of his family was enduring behind his back
The thought didn't settle well with him and he once again just to confirm if he had heard something wrong by any chance asked
"What?"
His voice was filled with confusion, low and heavy but the answer he was seeking never came instead Aashrit warned him, calmly but dangerous enough to suck out every breath of a normal person
"Just come back Vedh and look at the mess her life has become........because of you"
It was evident that he was talking about Heer so Vedh inhaled a deep breath and whispered, the restlessness returning in his mind
"I am coming...."
That's it and the line went silent.
~Mrs. Heer Vedh Singh Oberoi~
Heer heard the conversation, all of it without a single expression on her face and a single emotion in her eyes
There were only silent and empty tears which kept falling without her knowledge but it still hurts, the voice which should have given her solace now gave nothing except pain
Heer's heart ached as Vedh's voice made her remember the day when she heard it for the first time and then her first meet
He had not said anything against the marriage, not even given a single hint except for those 'glares' she had felt
Heer was frozen at her place, no movements at all even when the call had ended the finality in Vedh's voice when he said
'I am coming'
Was still echoing in her mind like a clip replaying again and again until Raj finally spoke, taking her out of the trance
"Leave him Betu"
Raj broke the silence taking everyone's attention, there was no request in his tone, just an order asking Heer to leave Vedh
His words made every head turn towards him in an instance like he had spoken something, he shouldn't have
Heer stared at Raj like she had seen a ghost just now while Aashrit gave it a thought before looking back at Heer's blank face while Reva still stared at Raj
"He is not right man for you, I will get you married to someone worthy of you just leave him, divorce him because I can't see my betu, my sister like this"
Raj said, defending his earlier words with an explanation and this time his eyes held plead, hurt and love for his sister
Reva looked back at Heer who was still staring at Raj with the same gaze, her mind racing with the thoughts because she knew Raj was right
"He is right"
This time it was Reva who held Heer's shoulder making that same gaze land on herself, Heer's tear filled eyes were hurt and Reva knew it but she couldn't help it
"Leave him Heer, he is not the one for you"
Reva's own eyes filled with tears as she could feel what Heer was going through right now, a sob escaped through Heer's lips as started to shake her head in denial looking at both Raj and Reva but then
"Leave him Heer"
That voice belonged to Aashrit, and that wasn't a plead or a request but it was an order which made all the head turn to him
Heer's eyes widen at the way Aashrit said that about his own best friend, it was the first time Aashrit called her by name but that's not the matter it's about what he said
How could he just ask his best friend's wife to leave his best friend?
Heer opened her mouth to speak something but no words could form under Aashrit's intense and helpless gaze
Aashrit sighed and looked at Reva nodding softly while she returned the gesture softly while at the side Raj's heart was in the misery
He didn't want Heer to cry but he couldn't let his sister live a loveless life with a person who left her on the very first morning of their marriage
"Fine..."
The soft whisper echoed in the room's silence, slicing through the thick and tensed air as Heer spoke wiping her tear streaked face with the back of her palm
Everyone looked at her, trying to understand the pain she was going through right now but was still trying to be strong and make a decision
"...Once he comes back I will divorce him and I promise"
Her dismissive tone made it clear that now her decision was strong and she would stick to it because Heer never broke her promises
Raj sighed, the breath he held in his chest now exhaled out as he relaxed hearing Heer even Reva was satisfied with her decision
"I will get the papers ready as soon as Vedh comes back we can file for the divorce"
Aashrit said, his mind already racing with planning while Heer sighed nodding softly though she was hurt and didn't feel satisfied at all
~Author~
Meanwhile somewhere on the outskirts of Italy
An old two story house stood somewhere deep in the forest, the house was not much big but not small either
The small building seemed so scary, surrounded by tall trees and the dry leaves that even moonlight was scared to reach out
It seemed nobody has been there for decades and just then a dim yellow lamp flickered from a small window of the dark house
Inside the room a man stood, maybe in his mid thirties, his muscles relaxing under the thin fabric of his black shirt as he stood in the middle of the big room facing a wall
His cognac brown eyes were determined but soft as he stared at the wall, his face still in the dark but seeing only his physic one could easily tell he was devilish handsome
His eyes shined in the dim corner even when his whole face was covered with darkness. Suddenly the sharp ring of his phone tore through the silence
He picked up the call with the slow ease as if nothing mattered in that moment, as soon as the call was picked the other person spoke
"Boss, she got married six months ago but her husband has been on a business trip since then"
The words were measured, calculated as if even the letters were scared to make a word while speaking, each word trembling
While the man standing in the dim room just closed his eyes for a moment as he took in a deep breath and asked
"With whom?"
His deep voice was scaring, dangerous and filled with thrill, slicing through the silence like a sharp knife without a care
His question lingered in the heavy, tensed air crystal clear and the person on the other side gulped audibly but he answered
"V..Vedh Singh Oberoi"
The man on the other side of line trembled as he took the powerful name in front of another equally powerful man
The man in the dim room sighed, even his silent sigh was much scarier than the whole vintage house can ever be
"25th July, make arrangements for India"
The specific date echoed through the cold walls like it would break through it in another moment
The date was heavy, holding secrets lingering like a secret not meant to be known by anyone but the man in the dimly lit room
Saying this the man hang up the call and sliding his phone back into his pocket he looked up again at the wall
As he snapped his thumb and forefinger producing a sound that made a light just above the wall lit up immediately
The wall came into the view, it was not empty white wall but it had years of obsession, possession and silent observation
There was a large photo surrounded by many smaller ones, the picture was on a girl looking into the camera with a soft smile
Her fair complexion was the light to the man's dark world as he stared at her with obsession in his eyes, the longing clear
Those honey brown eyes were lifted looking at the camera but through picture it seemed like mocking the person's fate for not having her as his
The wall of filled with the pictures of same girl from childhood till adulthood and every picture was the sign of her innocence
Her honey brown eyes were captivating for the man's cognac ones, the wall was large and the number of pictures also
The girl in all those pictures was not some stranger but....Heer
The man's obsession for decades, his only reason for being in this world was no one else but Heer and only Heer, the girl who didn't even had the slightest knowledge that she was the reason for someone else's breathing
Heer, who didn't even know about her own life, she couldn't even predict the next day of her own life was ruling someone else's breaths that too since decades
The man stepped forward, closure to Heer's picture and slowly with terrifying calmness he lifted his palm near her face hovering just above her cheeks
"Lightling......"
He whispered, his cold voice now sounded a little desperate as he let that name out with the practiced ease like he chants it daily
"......I should have killed him too with his parents, so he would not have married you"
His words were the result of his seething rage for Vedh and Heer's marriage, he seemed calm but the storm in him could not to calmed
"I promised myself that I won't even let you see me till you are 24 and see this bastard dared to marry you but just know lightling, I am coming on your birthday to take you with me because....."
He let his words hung in air, paused incomplete but enough to suck out breath of a living person and make him into a corpse
The words were calm, just a whisper but the storm behind them was unmistakable, unavoidable and couldn't be ignore
"...because Mortis never let anyone have what is his"
He concluded his words, the tone was warning & dangerous and with that he simply walked out of the room
Even the faint sound of his footsteps against the wooden floor was enough send chills through a fine person
~Mr. & Mrs. Aashrit Thakur~
In another room, Reva sat on the edge of the bed, her knuckles turning white holding the clutching the bed sheet as tightly as she could
The room was filled with silent tension and faint sound of Reva's sobs, tears streaming down her eyes like anything ever since she came back from Heer's room
Aashrit has not been in the room as he had gone to get the divorce papers ready as soon as possible
Then in a few minutes Aashrit came back, Reva looked up at towards the door on hearing it clicked
Aashrit looked at Reva and his eyes softened, his muscles relaxed as he let out the tight breath he was holding in his chest
Aashrit did not like the way Heer cried just because of his friend's one action, even if he has not lived with Heer much but still her sobs were hurting something in him
After his sister Shrishti Thakur died with his parents, he has never felt this feeling for anyone. Aashrit never cared for anyone's tears but Heer's tears were twisting something in him
Aashrit entered, closing the door behind him but Reva wasn't looking at him, she was looking at the floor angrily
Her amber eyes were red and tearful with pain and anger as she denied to look at Aashrit making him aware of how much angry she was
Aashrit slowly took steps towards Reva while she shifted just a little under his gaze, almost unnoticeable but he noticed
He sat beside Reva on a respectable distance but Reva didn't accept and she stood up immediately to leave
Aashrit held Reva's wrist and stood up looking at her turned away face helplessly but Reva didn't flinch
She wiped her tears harshly and turning to Aashrit, aggressively pulled away her wrist throwing glares at him, she gritted
"Don't touch me"
Aashrit's eyes were filled with helplessness and understanding, he understood why Reva was acting like this, he knew how much Heer meant to her and seeing her like that left a deep scar on her heart
Aashrit pulled away his palm and stepped back a little trying to give her space calmly, calculatingly
"I am sorry about what Vedh did?"
After a few seconds Aashrit finally spoke, his whisper enough loud in the silent room to make Reva turn to him again
Her eyes were still filled with tears but this time they were soft as if asking only one question, which was never meant for Aashrit but Vedh
Why?
Reva broke down once again, her knees gave up but before she could fall Aashrit caught the hold of her waist, softly but tight enough to ground her
"Wh..why Aashrit why? why my Heer?"
Aashrit and Reva now sat on the floor clinging to each other, Reva was crying drastically while Aashrit was crying to hold on to her
Reva cried clutching onto Aashrit's shoulders while her caressed her back with his other hand trying to calm her down
Reva's sobs grew louder with each second and Aashrit didn't try to stop her, he knew what Heer was for Reva
If it was Reva on Heer's place then this might be the reaction of Heer also, in these past six months the way Reva always yapped about Heer, her likes dislikes and everything made Aashrit understand that maybe Heer and Reva aren't sisters but they are more than that
Aashrit was furious, hurt, confused and helpless. He knew Vedh hasn't done any of it intentionally but still it was his mistake
"You..you know Aashrit when my Hee...Heer got married, she had hopes that her husband will let her pursue her dreams but see what that best friend of yours has done to her"
Reva suddenly straightened and looking at Aashrit straight into the orbs she told how Heer had hoped that she might be able to pursue her dreams but couldn't, because of Vedh
Aashrit nodded and hugged Reva to his chest, keeping her head on his well built muscular plane of chest and her tears soaked his shirt
Aashrit closed his eyes as Reva's sobs were becoming unbearable for him now, his chest ached at the way his love cried but he couldn't bring himself to stop her
He knew Reva needed it, she needed to cry because if she didn't cry then the pain might make it's place in her heart deeply
"Shh calm down little bloom, just calm down"
Aashrit kissed the top of her head and whispered softly, it brought a slight change in Reva's movements as she actually calmed down
After sometimes Reva slowly drifted off to sleep sitting there, clinging to Aashrit like he was her support and the only person she could rely on even in her sleep
Aashrit finally noticed that Reva had slept on his chest, his eyes got stuck on her face, the faint marks of dried tears and the red face
The memories of his wife, his little bloom crying like that hit him again and this time with much force making him close his eyes for a moment
Aashrit slowly lifted Reva off the ground not wanting to wake her up but still wanting to get her to a more comfortable space
The room fell silent as if even the walls were tired, listening to Reva's sobs and the tension faded in the background like past
Aashrit carefully laid Reva on the bed and as he started to get up from her side to cover her with duvet, she clutched his shirt tightly
Even in the haze of deep sleep, Reva's grip on Aashrit's shirt was tight enough to hold him near her and for once he stopped
His gaze fell on the slender fingers clutching his shirt tightly and he smiled but his smiled vanished in the same moment
He remembered the way she had cried. After their marriage, Aashrit has not given Reva even a single chance to complain or cry but here as soon as they arrived he had to see her tears, which probably hurt him more than they hurt Reva
Aashrit was staring at Reva's face, he slowly & carefully lifted his palm to touch her and he pushed back a strand of her hair from her face
Just then Aashrit's phone vibrated causing his attention to divert. Aashrit picked up his phone from the nightstand only to see a message from his lawyer
"The divorce papers are ready, they will reach you by the morning"
The text read, and the frown on Aashrit's brows eased as he sighed trying to release the tension of the day
Aashrit slowly slipped down beside Reva as it was already late at night and after what all happened today he was very much tired
In no time, Aashrit and Reva fell asleep in each other's arms like it was their forever.
~Vedh Singh Oberoi~
"Alright I am reaching"
Vedh said on a call as he got the information of everything being already arranged for his departure to India
It was almost past half eight in the evening and Vedh was just waiting for this call since he had picked up Aashrit's call
As soon as the call with Harshit ended, Vedh left the mansion. His black range rover running between half a dozen cars in front and same number of cars behind his car
His thoughts has been to all the possibilities of what would have happened to Heer and why was Aashrit talking like that why did he say that
Vedh doesn't know what Heer has endured behind his back
What is it that Aashrit know but Vedh doesn't, that exact thing was igniting restlessness in Vedh with each passing moment
The line of cars rolled to a stop in front of the airport and Vedh stepped out eagerly as if now even a single moment of wait will led to his death
Vedh Singh Oberoi, The man of control, silence and aura was losing his everything in just these few hours
But what was the reason?, well the reason was still with Vedh till now and other than him only Ms. Rachael knew about this reason but she is dead now
The evening air hit Vedh's face as he took long, urgent strides towards the airport, his hair strands on his forehead ruffled
It was nine till Vedh reached airport and the boarding took more time than always as if testing Vedh's patience but finally everything, every formality was over
Vedh quietly walked over to his private jet, though his strides were impatient and the turmoil inside him was unpredictable but still he tried his best not to let any of his emotions show out
Vedh walked confidently like always but something in his demeanor had shifted this evening which was becoming an unbearable weight for him
He settled inside the plane with the usual quietness and clasped his seat belt as the plane was about to take off in few minutes
In a few minutes the pilot announced the take off and the plane took off
Two hours passed, the world from sky looked wonderful but Vedh's focus was not on any of the scenery but is was somewhere far away from the real world
Finally Vedh sighed, his eyes leaving the window as he stared at the ceiling of the plane before he took out his wallet
Vedh opened his wallet, staring at the small photo in the very first transparent compartment. His eyes softened, just a small shift and he held that photo like something fragile
Then he whispered to himself, a silent promise hidden behind his tone
"Pearl......."
He let that name hang in the warm air inside the jet like an unfulfilled sentence which he then completed more silently
"....I am coming for you wifey"
